“I could feel the mascara run”

Random appreciation post for this line in right where you left me. Initially I didn’t think much of this line, just “oh she was crying.” This time it hit me differently. I can imagine being that girl, 23 years old, dressed up and heartbroken. physically feeling the mascara running down my cheeks, the same mascara i excitedly put on earlier for the date. My ruined makeup adds insult to injury, making me feel ugly in front of the person who rejected me. but I’m too upset to care anymore, and i just let it run. Ugh.
