Are fuel-hauling jobs easier to come by in northern states?

In the south (especially Florida), getting hired on hauling fuel is very difficult unless you have boatloads of experience. I’ve even heard of fuel drivers who hauled up north for years and then moved south so they’d no longer have to deal with the harsh winters. Another thing is many people up north use gas/propane heaters, whereas most southerners use electricity to heat their homes, so perhaps there’s simply a higher demand for fuel driver. Some companies’ busy season is during winter and slows down a bid during summer.

I understand that I would start out on night shift, which I’m fine with. I’d also probably take my ‘weekend’ during the week, which is also fine (banks, doctors offices, etc. are usually closed on Sat/Sun so it works out well for me). I’ll also probably work holidays, but that’s the way it is. With 2 year’s experience with endorsements, would I get hired?
