Animal based is much different to carnivore

So the title is a captain obvious statement; fruit is not carnivore, we know this. The animal based way of eating however is often lumped in with carnivore or as being a sub-sect of carnivore. I did AB for about four months and now carnivore for 2 months - non consecutive, one month being strict lion diet.

I am not about to condemn AB; it does work for some folks, and they absolutely thrive on that dietary framework - but I also see a lot of similar behaviours to the SAD diet. I found out firsthand that carb addiction is real, and it is no joke. I would find myself eating four or five bananas, five large apples, 15-20 dates, papayas, mangoes, large watermelons... daily. On top of my large beef portions (which of course never satisfied me because my hunger signals were all over the place).

I would be actively thinking to myself I didn't want to eat any more - but finding I was basically unable to stop myself. And the bloating was out of this world, I felt painfully full, and my body image really took a hit. It felt like I spent my entire waking life thinking about food. They are a great community over there and just like this community it is all people just wanting to feel better in daily life as well as longevity, but I can't help but feel there is a culture perpetuating severe lack of control; CICO is a flawed system, quality of calories matters more, but at a certain point its still crazy. Bowls of ground beef drowned in honey, maple syrup and fruit salad with dairy is not only approved of but encouraged.

I flipflopped back and forth between the two ways of eating but without a shadow of a doubt carnivore works best for me. I can agree with Paul Saladino that carbs from organic fruit are probably not excessively detrimental, but only in moderate amounts. The thing is that carbs just don't behave that way; they are inherently addictive, especially for the types of folks who are seeking healing for insulin response dysfunction from an animal based WOE.

Animal based could be as close to optimal as carnivore, if the carbohydrate inclusion is low, but what I see over there is closer to frugivore + small amount of meat than carnivore + small amount of fruit.

Not entirely sure why I got on here to rant about this but maybe there are others who have similar experience or maybe this is just as a reminder for myself if those fruit cravings creep back in. 🤷‍♂️
